How often do we find ourselves having to forgive someone or having to accept forgiveness from someone that has hurt us? Forgiveness can be a touch subject to some and to others its nothing. How many times have we used the phrase, “I can forgive but I can’t forget.”
In Matthew West book Forgiveness, we have the stories of people who have had problems with forgiveness. Written with the same title as his hit song, Matthew West is on a mission, a mission to let us know that forgiveness is something that we all have to figure out.
Lets ask ourselves four questions: Is there someone in my life I need to forgive? Is there someone I have wronged and need to ask forgiveness? Have I forgiven myself for mistakes I’ve made in my past? Have I embraced my need of the forgiveness God offers to me? Matthew West tells us “that how we answer these questions will drastically affect our relationships with others, define our feelings about ourselves, and ultimately determine the course of our lives.”
I ask myself how can I not forgive someone when Christ has forgiven me. By offering forgiveness we are honoring what Christ would have us to do. This book is a wonderful testimony of how others chose to forgive someone, forgive themselves or ask for forgiveness. I highly recommend this book for you to read, but be prepared for a life changing effect.
