About the Book:

Sixteen-year-old Shannon McNamara has exciting plans for the summer, and she can’t wait to get to them. Unbeknownst to her, however, her widowed and ailing mother has plans of her own–to relocate them both to the heart of Amish country in Ohio where she has relatives who can look after her. Shannon quickly learns that living a “simple” life is actually a lot of hard work. But when a hot young Amish guy named Ezra enters the picture, she’s ready to get an Amish makeover and even consider making it a permanent change. But does Ezra share her attraction? Will Shannon really make the jump into this new way of life? And will it be for the right reasons?

Teen favorite Melody Carlson brings fans another sweet story of worlds–and families–colliding, exploring themes important to teen girls through an engaging tale.

About the Author:

Melody Carlson has written more than 200 books (with sales around 6.5 million) for teens, women and children. That’s a lot of books, but mostly she considers herself a “storyteller.” Her novels range from serious issues like schizophrenia (Finding Alice) to lighter topics like house-flipping (A Mile in My Flip-Flops) but most of the inspiration behind her fiction comes right out of real life. Her young adult novels (Diary of a Teenage Girl, TrueColors etc.) appeal to teenage girls around the world. Her annual Christmas novellas become more popular each year. She’s won a number of awards (including Romantic Time’s Career Achievement Award, the Rita and the Gold Medallion) and some of her books have been optioned for film/TV. Carlson has two grown sons and makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and yellow Lab dog. My Review:

Shannon McNamara is looking forward to her summer; she is getting her driver’s license, a car, and a job. But her plans change when her mom gets sick and breaks the news to her “They are going to Ohio to stay with her grandparents.” Grandparents she never heard off and to top it off, they are Amish.

Becoming intrigued with the way of the Amish and how they live life, Shannon begins to like it. After she meets, Ezra, a young Amish boy, Shannon is thinking of becoming Amish herself. Are her intentions for the right reasons? Can she live this way for the rest of her life? You will need to read My Amish Boyfriend to find out.

Even though this is YA fiction, it is also a great Adult read also. I love Amish fiction and Ms. Carlson did a great job with this book. I definitely couldn’t put it down and neither will you.
