About the Book:

You have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.

So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.

New York Times bestselling author Priscilla Shirer, widely known for her international speaking, teaching, and writing ministries, brings her new role from the 2015 film War Room into the real lives of today’s women, addressing the topics that affect them most: renewing their passion, refocusing their identity, negotiating family strife, dealing with relentless regrets, navigating impossible schedules, succeeding against temptation, weathering their worst fears, uprooting bitterness, and more. Each chapter exposes the enemy’s cruel, crafty intentions in all kinds of these areas, then equips and encourages you to write out your own personalized prayer strategies on tear-out sheets you can post and pray over yourself and your loved ones on a regular basis.

Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don’t-give-up action guide to practical, purposeful praying.

My Review:

FerVent: A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer is Priscilla Shirer’s new book inspired by the Feature Film War Room. How many of you long to have that prayer warrior attitude? Long to be able to pray like woman you in your church, in your life, woman you admire? I know I am not half the prayer warrior like my grandmother was or even like Priscilla or Beth Moore. But I do know that God does here my prayers. I have longed to get better at how I pray and to get over the fear of praying out loud. I’m always afraid that I will say something dumb or embarrassing. I was so happy to be able to review FerVent for B&H Publishing.

FerVent begins with a section titled This Means War, here Priscilla talks about what we are getting into with this book. Next is Opening in Prayer, then each of the strategies is discussed. Your Passion, Your Focus, Your Identity, Your Family, Your Past, Your Fears, Your Purity, Your Pressures, Your Hurts, and Your Relationships. I’m here to tell you now, don’t even break out the steel toe boots, it will not help, your toes will be stomped on, your heart will be broken, and your eyes will be swollen from the crying. The book ends with Amen, Note Pages and Prayer Strategy Pages that you can tear out and take with you.

I definitely will be reading this one again and I highly recommend adding FerVent to your To Be Read List! You will not be disappointed in the outcome. Your prayer life will thank you for it.

Thank you to B&H Publishers for providing me a copy of this book for my honest review!

  1. Thank you for such a wonderful giveaway!! I love Priscilla and heard her speak one year at Women of Faith. I would love to win a copy of this book. Like you, prayer is something I struggle with at times. I love how other women around me pray, they always seem to know the right words to say. I know it’s not about comparing, I would just love to feel more comfortable in how I pray to my Father. What a powerful book and a powerful review! Thank you!!
