About the book:

About the Author:

Shelley Shepard Gray lives in southern Ohio and writes full time. A busy wife and mother of two, she spends her days writing and keeping track of her two teenagers. Her two dogs keep her company when she writes in her basement.

Shelley enjoys writing about the Amish and visits Amish communities in Adams and Holmes counties several times a year. When not spending time with her family or writing, she serves on several committees in her church.

She also bakes a lot, loves coconut cream pie, and will hardly ever pull weeds, mow the yard, or drive in the snow.

My Review:

The Loyal Heart, Book One in A Lone Star Hero’s Love Story, is Shelley Shepherd Gray’s new book. Ms. Gray is known for her Amish novels that we all have grown to love and cherish. The Loyal Heart is an Historical Christian Fiction set during the Civil War and is one I know you will love just as much as her Amish books.

Robert Truax is a former Second Lieutenant and Confederate officer in the Civil War who has made a promise to his comrade Phillip Markham. That promise is to look after Phillip’s wife, Miranda if anything was to happen to him. Robert being the man that he is, promised he would do everything he can to look after Miranda.

When Robert arrives in Galveston, Texas he is in for a lot more than he thought. Phillip’s name has been dragged through the mud, everyone in town thinks Phillip was a traitor, and Miranda has been treated as an outcast. This has left Miranda feeling hopeless, lost, alone, and an emotional wreck.

Once Robert laid eyes on Miranda, he knew he couldn’t leave after he helped her. Her beauty mesmerized Robert and he knew he had to do everything in his power to help her. He longs to make her smile again, turn her reputation around, and protect her but the secret he has about Phillip could shake her to the core.

Once you begin to read The Loyal Heart you will not be able to put it down until its finished. The storyline, the setting, the characters, and the writing skill of Ms. Gray will have you hooked wanting to read more. This is definitely one of my favorite books that I have read. One I know I will re-read over and over again.
