Beneath a Prairie Moon

Beneath a Prairie Moon

Kim Vogel Sawyer

About the Book:

Readers rabid for the sweet historical romances of Tracie Peterson and Tamara Alexander will flock to best-selling author Kim Vogel Sawyer’s prairie-set heartwarmer of high society cast-off and the western town that welcomes her.

Abigail Brantley grew up in affluence and knows exactly how to behave in high society. But when she is cast from the social registers due to her father’s illegal dealings, she finds herself forced into a role she never imagined: tutoring rough Kansas ranchers in the subjects of manners and morals so they can “marry up” with their mail-order brides. Mack Cleveland, whose father was swindled by a mail-order bride, wants no part of the scheme to bring Eastern women to Spiveyville, Kansas, and he’s put off by the snooty airs and fastidious behavior of the “little city gal” in their midst. But as time goes by, his heart goes out to the teacher who tries so diligently to smooth the rough edges from the down-to-earth men. How can he teach her that perfection won’t bring happiness?

My Review:

Releasing March 2018 is Kim Vogel Sawyer’s new fiction book, Beneath a Prairie Moon. If you love the historical romances written by Tracie Peterson and Tamara Alexander then you are going to love Ms. Sawyer’s new prairie-set, heartwarming novel.

Abigail Brantley is no stranger to high society but how is she going to act when she is forced into something she could never have imagined. She is tutoring rough Kansas ranchers, teaching them manners and morals so they can marry mail order brides. Mack Cleveland doesn’t want any part of the mail order bride scheme. His father was swindled by one. Overtime, he falls for the teacher who is trying so hard to smooth the rough edges of these down to earth men.

Great book, one that I can’t wait for all of you to read. Pre-order today!!

I received copy of this book for free, a favorable review was not required. This is my honest opinion of the book .

Room for Hope

thRoom for Hope

Kim Vogel Sawyer

About the Book:

In a desperate time, can Neva find forgiveness for a grievous wrong—and make room for hope?

Neva Shilling has a heavy load of responsibility while her husband travels to neighboring communities and sells items from his wagon. In his absence, she faithfully runs the Shilling Mercantile, working to keep their business strong as the Depression takes its toll, and caring for their twins.

When a wagon pulls up after supper, Neva and her children rush out—and into the presence of the deputy driving a wagon carrying three young children. The deputy shocks her with the news that Warren and his wife have died, insisting it was their last request that the three children go live with “Aunt Neva.”

Neva’s heart is shattered as she realizes that Warren’s month-long travels were excuses for visits with his secret family. She wants nothing more than to forget Warren, but can she abandon these innocent children to an orphanage? Yet if she takes them in, will she ever be able to see them as more than evidence of her husband’s betrayal and love them the way God does?

My Review:

Have you ever had the time when you felt like you couldn’t forgive someone for something they have done? Unforgiveness will eat at you until you can’t take it anymore. In Room for Hope, Kim Vogel Sawyer gives us the story of Neva Shilling and her family. Neva is the mother to Belle and Bud, 14 year old twins and the wife to Warren Shilling. Neva’s world is shaken when she receives a visit from a deputy from Beloit instead of her husband Warren. Jesse Caudel brings the bad news to Neva that her “brother” and his wife had passed away and left her their three children to raise. Neva can’t believe the news she was just told, her husband and his wife had passed away and they had three children together. How could this be? Warren was married to her.

Neva takes the children in but doesn’t understand whats happening. Her family is falling apart. What is she going to do? How is she going to raise her children as well as three others. Knowing nothing about placing orders for the mercantile, Neva jumps in and try’s to make ends meet.

Arthur Randall has wanted to purchase the Mercantile for a while now and he believes he finally has the chance to do so with Warren not around anymore. Neva refuses to sell to Arthur and he sets out to win her over by being nice to her. After spending time with her, he begins to realize he has feelings for her.

What will happen to Neva and her family? Will she learn to love the three children? Will she forgive? What will happen when the town finds out the truth?

Room for Hope is set in 1936 Kansas during the Great Depression. I could not put this book down until I had it finished. I loved reading Neva’s story. Forgiveness is a touch issue and one we should definitely be ready to read about and act upon. Ms. Sawyer has done it again!! Another great book! I highly recommend Room For Hope!! I give it 5 out of 5 Stars!

Through the Deep Waters

By Kim Vogel Sawyer

About the Book:

Born to an unloving prostitute in a popular Chicago brothel, timid seventeen-year-old Dinah Hubley was raised amidst the secrets held in every dark, grimy room of her home. Anxious to escape, Dinah pursues her dream of becoming a Harvey Girl, waiting tables along the railroad in an upscale hotel. But when she finds out she isn’t old enough, her only option is to accept a job as a chambermaid at the Clifton Hotel in Florence, Kansas. Eager to put everything behind her, Dinah feels more worthless than ever, based on a single horrible decision she made to survive.

The Clifton offers a life Dinah has never known, but blinded to the love around her, Dinah remains buried in the shame of her past. When a handsome chicken farmer named Amos Ackerman starts to show interest, Dinah withdraws further, convinced no one could want a sullied woman like her.  Despite his self-consciousness about his handicapped leg and her strange behavior, Amos resolves to show Dinah Christ’s love. But can she ever accept a gift she so desperately needs?

My Review:

I love reading Kim Vogel Sawyer’s books. She really knows how to grab your attention and make you feel like you are there, watching the story unfold. In her latest novel, Through the Deep Waters, we find the story of Dinah, who’s mother is a prostitute and lives in a dark, gloomy room that she calls home. Her one goal in life is to become a Harvey Girl and to escape Chicago.

Leaving Chicago for Florence, Kansas to follow that dream, there she finds out that she is a year shy of the age required to become a Harvey Girl. She accepts a job as a chambermaid at the Clifton Hotel where Ruthie befriends her. Ruthie had the opposite life of Dinah, she had loving parents and was raised in a nice home, and her father is the minister of the church.

What kind of life will Dinah have now? Will she learn to love it in Florence or will she let her past always predict her future? What about love, will she ever find it or ever let anyone get close to her?

These questions and more can be answered in when you read the book. I promise you will not put it down once you start. I definitely give it 5 out 5 stars!!!! Wonderful!!!
