To Win Her Favor
Tamera Alexander
About the Book:
A gifted rider in a world where ladies never race, Maggie Linden is determined that her horse will become a champion. But the one man who could help her has vowed to stay away from thoroughbred racing forever.
An Irishman far from home, Cullen McGrath left a once prosperous life in England because of a horse racing scandal that nearly ruined him. He’s come to Nashville for a fresh start, hoping to buy land and begin farming, all while determined to stay as far away from thoroughbred racing as possible. But starting over proves harder than he’d wagered, especially when Maggie Linden’s father makes him an offer he shouldn’t accept yet cannot possibly refuse.
Maggie is certain that her mare, Bourbon Belle, can take the top purse in the inaugural Peyton Stakes, the richest race ever run in America. Maggie only needs the chance to prove it. To give her that chance–and to save Linden Downs from being sold to the highest bidder–Maggie’s father, aging, yet wily as ever, makes a barter. His agreement includes one tiny, troublesome detail–Maggie must marry a man she’s never met. A man she never would have chosen for herself.
About the Author:
grew up reading anything and everything I could, so it was a natural step when my interest eventually turned to writing. To date, I’ve published ten award-winning and bestselling novels including my April 2014 release, A BEAUTY SO RARE, which debuted on the CBA bestseller list and stayed on the list for three months, thanks to you!
I write what some of my readers have termed historical “grit-lit,” which is Southern historical fiction/romance set in post-Civil War Nashville. I also write Colorado Territory historicals set in the wilds and grandeur of the Rocky Mountains where I lived for over seventeen years. At the heart of each of my books is a female and male protagonist at crucial turning points in their lives. As each story has unfolded in my writing, I’ve taken the couple’s journey with them and hope you’ll enjoy taking each of these journeys too.
I live in Nashville, Tennessee, with my husband–not far from the antebellum mansions about which I write–and with Jack, our sweet little Silky Terrier. My husband and I have two grown children who live nearby as well, which makes life pretty wonderful.
My next release, TO WIN HER FAVOR, publishes in May 2015, and is the second standalone novel in the Belle Meade Plantation series set, of course, right here in Nashville, TN at the famous Belle Meade Plantation founded in 1807. My other Southern series is set at the opulent Belmont Mansion (now surrounded by Belmont University), which was built by Adelicia Acklen in 1853. Both of these mansions are house museums that welcome patrons so I encourage you to visit Belmont and Belle Meade if ever you’re in Nashville.

My Review:
To Win Her Favor is book two in A Belle Meade Plantation Novel written by author Tamera Alexander. This is the first book in that series that I have read, and let’s say I can’t wait to read the first one!! Ms. Alexander has out done herself with this book. A story that takes us back in time to 1869 set in Nashville, Tennessee at the grand Belle Meade Plantation. Romance, history, and the characters will leave you wanting more.
To Win Her Favor is the story of Maggie Linden a gifted rider who wants nothing but to race her horse in the inaugural Peyton Stakes. This is a time where ladies do not race horses. Cullen McGrath comes to Nashville for a fresh start, his dream is to buy land and become a farmer. Cullen is the only one who can help Maggie but doesn’t want any part of horse racing.
This novel will definitely stay in your hands; you will not be able to put it down. Will Cullen help Maggie? Or Will Maggie not be able to pursue her dream? You will have to read to find out!!
Thank you to the publisher/Author for providing me with a copy of this book for review.
