The Longing In Me

_140_245_Book.1919.coverThe Longing In Me

Sheila Walsh

About the Book:

Do your desires have you going around in circles? You may be looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places.

You vowed you’d never repeat the same mistakes—yet you find yourself right where you started. What is it that keeps drawing you back into the same old traps? The fact is, your longings are built from the blueprint of your needs: for protection, for love, for God. And those needs aren’t going anywhere.

Sheila speaks candidly about the trials in her life, including the heartache of her first marriage, and intertwines her story with the biblical saga of King David. As both Sheila’s and David’s stories make clear, some cravings are misguided, but they all stem from the same hunger—and they will haunt you until that hunger gets satisfied properly.

If you keep reaching out to the wrong people at the wrong times in your own life, The Longing in Me will help you understand that your cravings are not the problem. It’s where they lead you that makes all the difference.

My Review:

I first heard of Sheila Walsh 6 years ago when I first attended a Women of Faith event. When I heard her speak, I knew I had to find her books and begin reading them. She impacted my life greatly and I knew it was a God thing that I was able to go to WOF at the last moment. Since then I have read almost all of Sheila’s books and heard her speak two more times. When I first seen she was coming out with a new book, The Longing In Me, I knew I would be in for a treat. I was honored to be chosen to be on her launch team as well as be able to review this book for the publisher.

The Longing In Me is the book for any woman who is ready to make a change in their lives and let God lead you. Sheila is open and honest about the trials in her life and intertwines her story with the story of King David. This book is for those women who find themselves going in circles, making the same mistakes over and over again, and whose looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places. Sheila dives in and gives an accurate account of scripture and goes in details with the story of David.

I constantly find myself making the same mistakes over and over again and keep asking why do I this? Simply put, I’m not trusting God enough. I know I can change this with the help from a God who loves me. This book is a life changer and I highly recommend it to anyone who is ready to change. Change is hard but you don’t have to do it alone!!

Loved Back to Life: How I Found the Courage to Live Free

Sheila Walsh

About the Book:

Join Sheila Walsh on her journey from despair to joy

Beautiful and talented, Sheila Walsh was at the pinnacle of her career, appearing daily on television as cohost of The 700 Club. One day she found herself walking away from it all and checking in to a psychiatric hospital, where she stayed for a month.

From the outside everything seemed fine, but on the inside Sheila was in trouble. In her journal she wrote, “Lord, please hold me. I’m falling into a dark well. I feel as if I am disappearing a little more every day. I am so angry inside that I am afraid of myself. I feel so alone.” How did this happen? What brought her to her knees?

Loved Back to Life takes readers on Sheila’s journey of the soul from hopelessness to joy as she finds that although the road was scary, at every turn God beckoned her to follow and trust Him. And He did not let her down.

About the Author:

Sheila Walsh is the creator of Children of Faith and the Gnoo Zoo, a ministry to children that communicates God’s love for them. As an accomplished musician, Sheila has recently released the CD “Love Falls Down”. Sheila, her husband, and their son, live in Texas.

My Review:

I absolutely love Sheila Walsh and I have had the opportunity to hear her speak 3 times at Women Of Faith. Her story has always touched me in a way and renewed my faith. I always wondered what it was that made me so captivated by this remarkable woman of God and when her newest book came out, I had found out why. Clinical Depression….

Sheila had it all, a beautiful voice, and co-host off the 700 Club until one day she new something was wrong. After seeing a doctor and realizing the help she needed was to be admitted into a psychiatric hospital, Sheila knew that’s what she needed to do to save her life. While there, Sheila was diagnosed with Clinical depression and put on meds but the best part, she became closer to God and was able to find out where some of her issues stemmed from.

Mental illness is not fake, it is real and Sheila is getting her story out here for all to see exactly what mental illness is and that there is help. I know that from personal experience, being diagnosed with depression 17 years ago and realizing what I needed to do to cope with it and the help that I received from family and friends but most importantly God is the reason why I am here today. If you or someone you love is suffering from Depression or any other mental illness, I will hope that you will buy this book and read it and buy a copy for that special person in your life. You will definitely understand them better.

Thank you Sheila for writing your story for all of us!!!

My Review:

5/5 Stars

I have had the opportunity to see Sheila Walsh two times at Women of Faith events near my hometown. I love hearing her speak and I love reading her books. What she has to say speaks straight to your heart and gives you that feeling like “Wow, she knows exactly what I’m going through or exactly where I have been!!” When I found out that she had a new book coming out about the storms in our life, my first thought was I have to have this book, she wrote just for me. Needless to say, I was right and boy do my toes hurt!!!!

Do you have trouble with forgiveness? Not only with forgiving others but asking for forgiveness also. I do and the moment I started reading I knew right then I had amends to make and I did, I didn’t hesitate to contact those people. Not only does she tackle the storm of forgiveness or unforgiveness, she tackles insecurity, fear, disappointment and many more topics that we as women face.

One quote from the book that cut like a knife is:

“Forgiveness is not about removing someone else’s liability, but about setting our own hearts free.”

Powerful words from a powerful woman of God!!! I definitely recommend this book to all you will not be disappointed.
